🔑 Psychology: More than Just a Strong Mindset – It's About Letting Go and Adjusting 🔑

A strong mindset is often seen as pushing through, showing strength, and persevering. But what if the most powerful move sometimes is to let go?

The psychology mastery pillar teaches us that it’s not always about strictly holding onto your position or way of thinking, but about wisely assessing whether your mindset and approach are truly serving you. It's about the ability to forgive (yourself), let go, and know when to stop and revise your approach.

As a passionate wingfoiler, I was inspired by a SUP downwind foil video in which two valuable lessons were shared that also apply to life on land. 😉

The first lesson: When you can’t catch a wave, there’s no point in exhausting yourself by continuing to paddle. Sometimes, it’s wiser to let that wave pass and conserve your energy and mental strength for the next opportunity.

The second lesson: Don’t trap yourself in a negative thought stream like "I can't do this" or "I'll never succeed" when something doesn’t go as planned (like failing to get on the foil in the video, so frustrating 😂). Acknowledge those thoughts, accept them, and let that thought stream go.

A strong mindset also means knowing when to stop and stop investing negative energy into something that’s not moving you forward. Perseverance can become a pitfall if you keep pushing without results. Instead of always forcing things, it can be more powerful to take a step back, observe, and reconsider what’s truly needed.

This requires a holistic view, where you not only use logic but also incorporate your feelings and intuition in decision-making.

The psychology mastery pillar teaches you to consciously choose what genuinely helps you move forward, whether that means continuing or letting go. It’s about recognizing when you're triggered and knowing when to adjust your thoughts, actions, and habits to regain balance.

This isn’t some vague or mystical concept; it's actually very analytical: it's about critically thinking about your own behavior and habits and how they can help or hinder you—both personally and in your relationships (whether private or professional).

Sometimes, growth means letting go of what doesn't work and choosing a new approach.

And that’s exactly what I help you with as a high-performance coach: learning how to strategically use the power of your thoughts (your psychology) for more balance, energy, and clarity.
